How do I choose a concentration?
Students interested in applying to our programs can find descriptions of our concentrations here. It is helpful to view the courses for each concentration, to see what looks most interesting to you. Our students can easily change their concentrations, too.
How do I find an advisor?
The Department of History assigns each History major an advisor in early August, at the start of each academic year. Students can find their major advisor listed in MyCompass and Bay Advisor, and email them directly through those portals. You can also write to history@csueastbay.edu to learn the name of your History major advisor. Students may have other advisors, depending on their participation in additional University programs. These will also be listed in MyCompass and Bay Advisor. Students will always have a History faculty advisor, for all questions related to the degree in History. How do I choose and enroll in classes?
The Department of History reaches out to all admitted transfer students in the Spring of each year. We meet individually with transfer students to orient them to the History major and to select classes for Fall, to ensure that students are taking the right classes for the degree, according to degree roadmaps. New students can also write to history@csueastbay.edu or call (510)885-3207 to connect quickly with a History faculty advisor. Freshmen and sophomores are advised by FASST advisors.
