Anktioni Repeat Dances
The Eagle Kachina Kwahu generally appears in the Kiva or Repeat Dances in early March. Eagles occupy an honored place among the Hopi, being treated as guests and showered with gifts as though they were children. The dance is a prayer for the increase of eagles, and imitates the motion of the birds. This is a favorite Kachina for carvers, who formerly employed real wings from small birds in their making.
