Isinay

  • AKA: Isinai, Inmeas
  • Location: Luzon, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces, primarily in towns of Bambang and Dupax Sur.
  • Languages: Part of Central Cordilleran group.
  • Subsistence: Wet rice, some swidden agriculture in higher elevations; livestock.
  • Population: 6000 (1980)

As a result of assimilation due to major transportation arteries in the area, the Isinay are no longer distinguishable as a separate group by anything other than their languange. The Isinay area may have been the starting point for migrations of various people into the Ifugao highlands.
