Cal State East Bay Falls to Cal State Dominguez Hills

HAYWARD, Calif. - The Pioneer men's basketball team stands at 2-13 in CCAA play and 5-15 overall following a 61-49 defeat to visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Feb 6. Cal State East Bay shot only 29.6 from the field to trail 33-23 at halftime.
Prince Ray Pope hit a jumper as the Pioneers closed the gap to 44-35 with 12:42 remaining in the game. The Toros extended their advantage to 55-42 with 3:09 left on a Robert Willhite jumper.
Cal State Dominguez Hills shot 43.1 percent from the field and held a 41-33 rebound edge over the Pioneers. Amir Aguilar came off the bench to lead the Toros with nine rebounds. The Toros had three players score in double figures led by Michael Cox with 17 points. Willhite and Tim McGrath each scored 14 points for Cal State Dominguez Hills, now 11-5 in the CCAA and 11-10 overall.
Mark Samuels and Pope both came off the bench to lead Cal State East Bay in scoring with seven points.
Frankie McWirt led the Pioneers on the boards with four rebounds.
