Bachelor of Fine Arts students exhibit their works at University Art Gallery

Thirteen advanced Bachelor of Fine Arts students will show their work in an exhibition opening Jan. 10, and continuing Jan. 11 through Feb. 12 in the University Art Gallery in the Art and Education Building, on Hayward Campus of ñ, East Bay, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd.

The opening will be 5-7 p.m. Jan. 10. Regular hours for the exhibit will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 6 to 9 p.m., Fridays; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is always free.

"Each year we look forward to new and exciting works from our students,” said Jill Ringler, art gallery manager. “Among our interesting pieces this year is an installation by Donghoon Han that is composed of several old televisions running VHS video, and an interactive piece from Michael Wallace that will enable the viewer to have his photograph taken while sitting beneath images of people in chairs,” she said.

Participants are: Victor Hugo Arce showing mixed media, “Hormiga Atomica;” Eyael Fisseha, nine small abstract images; Maria Fulmer, photograph, “Veins II;” Donghoon Han, video and television installation; Kenneth Hung, painting, untitled; Elizabeth Zunino, painting, “Unknown Territory” and needlepoint, “Monarch Butterflies;” Pat McCabe, paintings, “Mataka Henkmaalmaan (Spirit Journey), #2, #4, #5;” Paolo Mejia, installation; A.W. Parker, photo, “Missing Clothes";” Melanie Grayrain Sharr, paintings, “Nurse Series;” Andy Wallace, four paintings,  “Simple Representation, Complex Idea, No. 1;” Michael Wallace, installation, photographs and chair, “Leaf-Spring Chair;” and Justin Reece, photography.
