Timothy Smith, former director of the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Bands, will be a special guest at the wind symphony concert.
Cal State East Bay's Wind Symphony, along with the Faculty-Alumni Wind Orchestra, will perform in concert tonight (Tuesday, March 11) at 7:30 in the University Theatre on ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ's Hayward Campus, 25800 Carlos Bee Blvd. Admission to the concert, under the direction of conductor Danielle Gaudry, is free and the public is invited. A reception will follow.
The concert will feature the return of Timothy Smith, professor emeritus of music and former director of bands, who taught at Cal State East Bay for 22 years until retiring about six years ago. He will serve as a special guest conductor for part of the concert. Other former ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ music faculty members are expected to participate.
Along with Smith's return, the concert will feature the musical works of ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ alumni Robert Litton, Frank Ticheli, Joaquin Turina, Jack Stamp and many others, according to Gaudry, who is assistant professor of music and director of the Cal State East Bay Bands.
