CSU Faculty Led Programs
Short-term programs offered by ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ faculty for ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ students.  Previous programs offered in Brazil, Cuba, Italy, and the UK.  Programs have been suspended since 2020 -  please check back for updates.  

ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Exchange Program
Some of our exchange partners have created summer programs specifically for international students.  Interested students will need to be 'nominated' by the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Study Abroad office before starting the application for the host university.  Please contact studyabroad@csueastbay.edu for more details.

Check out the NSE page to see which NSE campuses can accept exchange students for summer.  Note: "with full-term enrollment" means they can accept NSE students for summer if the student will also be particiating in exchange either the semester before or after summer term.

Non-ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Programs

The programs below are not specifically affiliated with CSU East Bay, but most have competitive application processes that offer the opportunity for significant scholarships. Take a look!

CSU Summer Arts
Undergraduate and graduate students from the CSU system and beyond​ and advanced practitioners are invited to participate in a transformative, immersive educational experience. Courses carry three to five units of credit and 80% of students receive scholarships.  While most programs are taught in Fresno, a number of international programs have been offered as well (including such topics as: Contemporary Art in Berlin, La Guitarra Espoñola, Acting Irish Theater).

Critical Language Scholarship
The is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical foreign languages.  Each summer, CLS provides fully funded rigorous academic instruction in fourteen languages that are critical to America's national security and economic prosperity Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.  In 2022 the CLS Program also initiated a pilot program (called ) for virtual instruction in order to provide more access to language instruction.  Interested in CLS or CLS Spark?  Contact ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ's CLS advisor kelly.moran@csueastbay.edu to learn more and start your application.

BOREN Awards - Regional Flagship Initiatives
Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S.  The are unique immersive language learning experiences which include a combined summer and fall program in a handful of target languages (as of 2022 those languages include: Swahili, Akan/Twi, Wolof, Zulu, Hindi, Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish and French (in Senegal).)  For more information, contact ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ's Boren advisor kelly.moran@csueastbay.edu

Douglass-O'Connell Global Internship

Formerly known as the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship, the  selects a small cohort of students for a summer experience, fully funded by CIEE, the Government of Ireland, and the African American Irish Diaspora Network of Western Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.S.

  • Short term summer programs in the UK
  • U.S. undergraduates (with at least 2 years left in their degree program)
  • Minimum 3.7 gpa
  • Little or no prior international experience
  • Roundtrip airfare, tuition, housing and some meals are covered by the program
