The Cannery Café Cooking Demo - Learn about this wonderful sustainable business that uses locally sources ingredients and partners with the Hayward community. Lunch will be provided.

Clothing Swap - Come out to DISC and donate your clothes and while doing so browse around and grab something for yourself! Making clothing uses a lot of water and creates a lot of waste. Help eliminate waste and water usage by giving your unwanted clothes to others!

Earth Week Special Event: presenting the “Live Cube” – Artists in residence at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ present the “Live Cube” reception with Artist talk! A visit into the Live Cube, a one-room space, gives a glimpse of what Earth might be like in a resource-starved future. It tells the story of one man’s life in the dystopian society through the objects in his tiny house. As visitors explore the space, the objects they touch will trigger an audio excerpt of the life the fictional man leads in a world lacking sufficient water, energy and oil. For example, pushing the water pump triggers the man’s thoughts about living with a rationed amount of water sent by the government. Free Admission. Light refreshments provided.

Meditation and Inner Sustainability Workshop - Feeling stressed and frazzled? Escape to a 60 minute workshop to relax, unwind, and learn valuable meditation techniques. Licensed massage therapist Marie Lehn will teach participants tips on how to remain grounded and revitalized through the art of practicing mindfulness in daily life. Learn about inner sustainability and conserving your own energy.

Sustainability in the classroom: Addressing Adultism and other inequalities with Dr. Donovon Ceaser - An important part of sustainability is the role of inequality. In terms of education, this means it is crucial to create environments where issues of power are addressed. In this talk there will be a discussion on how to examine and address issues of power in the classroom and in particular the issue of Adultism, or youth inequality.
