The Speech Lab in the Department of Communication provides support and assistance to the campus community for presentations, public speaking, and other communication-related assignments. We offer a wide range of services such as:
- Topic selection
- Research direction
- Organization of information
- Speech notes or outline checklists and critiques
- Overcoming communication apprehension and “speech nerves”
- Presentation and speech practice feedback
- Recording assistance
- Advice on use of presentation aids
- and more!
Tutors will respond to inquiries at during Lab hours on a first-come, first served basis.
Under faculty supervision, the Speech Lab is staffed by students who have taken public speaking and/or other communication course and have been trained as Tutors to help the Lab’s visitors with their various presentation needs. Students can also gain valuable teaching experience and learn to serve other students through their work as tutors.
