Albert D. Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology, Geography, and Environmental Studies (AGES) at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ. Dr. Gonzalez earned his BA and first MA, both in history, at the University of Texas at Dallas, followed by completion of his second MA and the PhD in anthropology at Southern Methodist University. He specializes in Indigenous and Latinx material culture and foodways, the social and ecological impact of industrialization in the American West, architectural energetics (including adobe construction and foodways technology), and stakeholder-engaged citizen science research. He focuses on borderlands topics in California, New Mexico, and Florida. Dr. Gonzalez directs the C.E. Smith Museum of Anthropology and the Pacific Earthen Architecture Research Laboratory (PEARL) at ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ, where he trains students in decolonizing museum and laboratory methods as they relate to the interpretation of indigenous and Latinx documents and material culture. He has taught upper-division and graduate courses on topics as diverse anthropological theory, archaeological science, Mexican history, and colonial Latin America and regularly teaches introductory courses in general anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology
