Peg Winkelman has served as a teacher, vice principal, principal and district coordinator of curriculum and staff development. Through her work for the Vallejo Unified School District, she facilitated many partnerships including work with the California Math Project at UC Davis, the California Literacy Project and Sonoma State, the Lawrence Berkeley Lab, and Lawrence Hall of Science. Prior to her appointment to the Department Of Educational Leadership at CSU East Bay, she taught teacher education courses at the University of California, Berkeley, Saint Mary’s College and Mills College.
Peg Winkelman came to ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ to further her work on leadership for social justice. This work includes coaching new leaders in designing school and district equity plans to better serve under-served students and supporting doctoral students’ research in a variety of areas addressing marginalized populations including culturally responsive pedagogy, teacher development, and family involvement. Her background in the field motivates her pursuit of collegial research and program partnerships with teacher education, special education, early childhood, and counselor preparation. Her grant work has incorporated Linked Learning, Transitional Kindergarten, and Afterschool Programs, as well as the Integrated Arts in Education Initiative.
