Jonathan Stewart has extensive experience in the health care industry, having worked as an emergency nurse, license defense attorney, risk manager and patient safety professional. He received master’s degrees in nursing (health policy) from the University of California at San Francisco and in human factors and system safety from Lund University in Sweden, a law degree from the University of Tulsa, and a certificate in clinical bioethics from Loyola University Chicago. He has been admitted to the bars of California, Washington, Alaska, and of the U.S. Supreme Court and he holds professional certifications in patient safety and health care risk management.

When not teaching, Mr. Stewart works full-time as a Senior Director of Risk Management and Patient Safety at a medical professional liability insurer, providing consultation services and education to hospitals, health systems and medical groups throughout California.
