Mailroom Information

The El Dorado Mailroom serves as an extension of the United States Postal Service and follows its policies. The mailroom is not able to provide all of the services of USPS and it is a federal offense to tamper with another person’s mail.

Mailing Address & Mailbox Information

All residents will be issued a mailbox number and combination information will be sent to their horizon email address 7-10 business days after official check-in. The mailbox assigned at move-in will not change during the entire stay in Pioneer Heights including any changes of assignments during the year or in subsequent years. Your mailing address needs to include the mailbox number and all mail should be addressed as follows:

Please note that, at the mailing address above, the “Box” number is your mailbox number and NOT your room or apartment number!

Receiving Mail

Due to the amount of mail we receive on a daily basis, we are unable to hold packages for an extended amount of time. If a package has not been picked up after 30 days or if the student does not live on campus and receives mail, it will be sent back to the sender-Forwarding mail/packages is not an option due to limited resources.

Letters: Will be placed in students’ assigned mailbox unless it is too large and it will be logged as a package.

ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ Official Documents: All ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ documents dropped off via inner campus delivery will be logged as packages.

Packages: Students should wait for an email from housing@csueastbay.edu before going to the mailroom. If a student receives a “Confirmation of Delivery” from their carrier and still hasn’t received an email from the mailroom to pick up their package; please allow at least 48 business hours.

*Please pick up packages in a timely manner, failure to pick up your package within 2 weeks of the receipt date will result in the package being returned to the sender.

Medicine: If a student is expecting to receive prescription medicine in the mailroom please provide the following ahead of delivery to housing@csueastbay.edu:

Perishable Items Policy

UHRL Mail room or Lassen Front Desk will not accept any food/grocery deliveries. If you would like to use food or grocery delivery of perishable items, please ensure that you are able to directly meet the delivery person at an appropriate unloading area. Delivery persons are prohibited from entering any UHRL building, as it jeopardizes the safety of the community. Students must meet any delivery person outside of the building Items found abandoned or without an intended recipient may be held temporarily at the discretion of the Housing Staff. However, the Housing staff holds no liability for ensuring the perishable items are maintained at safe food storage temperature, and have the right to dispose of at any time for concerns of food safety, pest safety, and other health and safety concerns.

  • UberEats, Doordash, etc.
  • Groceries items with perishable items (milk, eggs, etc).
Special Delivery Arrangements - Arrangements, such as fruit/candy/flower arrangements, need to be coordinated so they can be delivered directly to the intended resident recipient.
Please note that:
  • Housing cannot provide details of the contact information or room location to any individual (inclusive of guardian, significant other, or delivery staff).
  • Housing staff can assist with calling the resident if needed.
  • Due to similar concerns around food, pest, and other health and safety concerns, we discourage the ability to store, and have the right to dispose of items at any time should the items cannot guarantee an immediate pick-up and/or pose safety risks.
  • General special delivery for non-perishable (i.e. snack box), please use standard mailing process.

Outgoing Mail

Outgoing Mail/Packages: Only packages with a return label provided by the vendor or mail with the correct amount of prepaid postage will be accepted, please bring your already prepared mail/ package to the mailroom. Allow 48 business hours for the package to be sent out.

  • If the designated carrier does not stop by El Dorado Mailroom, staff will not drop off packages at the carrier's location and will wait for the next delivery/pickup instance.
  • Residents are able to purchase stamps through the Campus Bookstore, the mailroom “Does Not” carry stamps.

Forwarding Mail: El Dorado mailroom does not forward mail. If a student is preparing to move out of the Residence Halls it is their responsibility to submit a “” form online or at the post office. If the mailroom receives mail from a student who does not live on campus, the mail will be returned to its original sender.

Delays in Receiving Mail

Misaddressed packages(wrong name/nickname) or letters might be returned to the sender or there will be a delay in the processing time. If the resident correctly addressed the package/letter and has not received a pickup notification or seen it in their mailbox after 48 business hours of carrier notification, please fill out the .

Missing Packages: If “Confirmation of Delivery” from the carrier (USPS, UPS, Amazon, etc.) is received and the resident does not receive an email to pick up their package from the mailroom after 48 business hours of carrier notification please submit a Mailbox and Package Issues Form. Please allow 48 hours for the Mailroom staff to provide an update on their findings.

Mailbox issues: If a student is having issues with opening their mailbox please complete and submit a allow 48 hours for the mailroom staff to send updates.

Wrong Mail/Package: If mail is placed in your mailbox or you have been given the wrong package by mistake, please return it to the mailroom as soon as possible as it is a federal offense to tamper with another person’s mail and fill out a .

Please review the California Code of Regulations – Title 5, Section 41301: Standards of Student Conduct (/students/campus-life/student-life/sdja/student-conduct.html)

“Student behavior that is not consistent with the Student Conduct Code” including, but not limited to “disorderly, lewd, indecent, or obscene behavior at a University-related activity, or directed toward a member of the University Community” will be “addressed through an educational process that is designed to promote safety and good citizenship and, when necessary, and may impose appropriate consequences.”

Students who are found in violation of the Student Conduct Code will be documented and will face repercussions.
