Political Science Club

WHAT IS THE POLITICAL SCIENCE CLUB?

PS Club

The club is a student-led university recognized club open to all ALL Political Science majors and minors! (Non-majors can attend club events too, but only majors can serve as club officers.) The club sponsors an array of events during the year related to careers in political science and graduate study, it invites guest speakers to meet with our majors, and otherwise builds community within the department by helping connect students with each other, with faculty and staff, and with resources on campus. Each year, an executive board of five student officers plans (with other student input) a series of events to help make your time in the Political Science Department fun and memorable!

The club is advised by Dr. Below.

CLUB VISION STATEMENT

The Political Science club is an interest-based community focused on politics, civic engagement, social justice, advocacy, and guidance on careers in public policy, law, and international affairs. We are also the Alpha Iota Theta Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, which is the only college-level honor society for scholars of political science and government affairs.

We focus on promoting civic engagement and supporting students in their political science studies. We hope to continue to provide resources and knowledge of opportunities to students such as jobs, scholarships, and internships. We hope to continue to bring in awesome speakers with a focus on topics such as career guidance in public policy, foreign affairs, and law school. Additional activities that we’d like to carry out over the years are LSAT info meetings and study groups, working with local organizations to promote civic engagement, and offering practical skills workshops such as resume building and interview preparation. We look forward to continuing to build our community and support students!

WHAT DO CLUB MEMBERS DO?

Members can attend regular meetings, special events, and share ideas for events and programming with club officers. Participate a little...or a lot!!

WHAT DO I GAIN FROM JOINING?

Participating in the club helps build our department community by connecting fellow POSC majors and even providing outlets to get to know your faculty and staff outside the classroom! It builds your network of people to ask for advice, learn ways to navigate the ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ campus, learn more about the major, hear about potential internship and career opportunities, and find other political and social justice-minded students to talk about politics and international relations with!
