New Student Orientation

Attending the orientation is the key to a successful beginning to your East Bay experience! Our friendly faculty and staff will welcome you & your new friends from all over the world and guide you through the steps to start your life at Cal State East Bay.

New Student Orientation for Fall 2024

WHEN: August 22, 2024 (in-person). Time: 9:00AM - 4:00PM

WHERE: SF-127 (Student & Faculty Building 1st floor > Campus Map)

WHAT TO BRING: 

  • Laptop or Tablet that you can connect to the Internet
  • Passport
  • Visa
  • I-20
  • I-94
  • Proof of health insurance - Purchase mandatory Health Insurance online or provide government/employer sponsored insurance. 
  • Tuition payment receipt:  
    • Fall 1 only: $3,005
    • Fall 1 & 2 $5,205
    • Other outstanding balance (on-campus housing fees, etc)

Pay tuition & fees before the end of orientation. Payment deadline is August 22, 2024. 

  • OPTION 1: Pay online with 
  • OPTION 2: Pay at the University Cashier's in person by cash, personal check, cashier's check, or money order made payable to ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ.

WHEN: August 16, 2024 (in-person). Time: 9:00AM - 4:30PM

WHERE: SF-127 (Student & Faculty Building 1st floor > Campus Map)

WHAT TO BRING:

    • Amount varies based on the number of units you're enrolled. Check with your program advisor for the exact cost.  
    • Other outstanding balance (on-campus housing fees, etc)

Pay tuition & fees before the end of add/drop deadline. Payment deadline is August 30, 2024.

During the mandatory orientation, new students will:

  • Meet with staff & teachers and new friends from all over the world!
  • Take necessary English placement tests (ALP Intensive English Program students only)
  • Complete health history form
  • Complete immigration and registration paperwork
  • Take a campus tour
  • Get a ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ photo ID card
  • Pay tuition
  • Buy health insurance
  • Learn about F-1 student responsibilities
  • Get settled into housing and buy necessary items

It is best if you complete these tasks before the orientation. However, if you need help, we will assist you during the orientation:

  • Log-in to 
  • Check your 
  •  & other fees (on-campus housing, etc)
  • Purchase Health Insurance (Purchase of this health insurance is required by ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ unless you are not in the U.S. while taking 100% online classes or have a government- or employer-sponsored health insurance)
  • Housing Arrangement 
If you cannot make it to the mandatory New Student Orientation on time, notify the Global Academy office as soon as possible. We'll try our best to accommodate you, but you may not be allowed to enroll in the session/semester for which you've been admitted. Keep in mind that if you don't start your program on time, it may jeopardize your immigration status.
