Parking permits are sold online at . The fee is $195 for a semester parking permit or $100 for a Summer Session parking permit.
The University parking department is a self-supported operation. What that means is all of the costs of the program, including construction, maintenance, and personnel must be funded via permit sales because the parking department receives no funding from the University or the State.
Since parking permits are a fee for usage, everyone that parks on campus must pay their fair share. Otherwise, our students end up paying a disproportionate share of parking fees. Permits are required Mondays - Thursdays from 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. and on Fridays from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M. This spreads the costs over a wider base of fee payers, thereby preventing student fees from increasing even more.
Visitors to campus can purchase hourly and daily parking permits at the top of Harder Road next to the kiosk, in Lot N next to the kiosk, Lot G, Lot K and in Lot A. All dispensers on campus accept most credit cards, cash and coins (exact change is needed.) Hourly meters are along West Loop Road in front of Meiklejohn Hall.

There are electric vehicle charging stations located in Lot A, D, J, L, G and K. In order to be able to access the charging stations, you must have a valid Chargepoint access card. There is a charge to use the EV stations and you must have a valid campus parking permit (during hours of enforcement.)

Permits are required at virtually all campus events. If you are managing an event and have any questions about parking, please call the parking office well in advance to discuss what alternate arrangements may be possible. Our office number is (510) 885-3790 or parking@csueastbay.edu.
Parking fines are used to fund the campus shuttle which travels from ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ to the Hayward and Castro Valley BART stations. Funds are also used for car sharing programs such as; ZipCar and Carpool rideshare. California Education Code section 89701.5 states: Monies in the State University Parking Revenue Fund received as parking fines and forfeitures shall be used exclusively for the development, enhancement, and operation of alternate methods of transportation programs for students and employees, for the mitigation of the impact of off-campus student and employee parking in university communities, and for the administration of the parking fines and forfeitures program.

Tips

Parking

  • Allow enough time before your class starts (at least 15 minutes is recommended) to purchase an hourly/daily permit (if needed) and find a parking space.
  • Save time by parking in our east lots (Lot G and H). These are our largest lots and generally have spaces available throughout the day. Parking spaces on West Loop Road, Lot A and Lot D tend to fill up before 10am.
  • When parking on campus, a valid University permit must be clearly and fully displayed at all times.
  • Before you leave your vehicle, make sure your permit is correctly displayed.
  • Never falsify/alter information on a permit, that can result in a $390 ticket!
  • Never park in a red zone for any reason, these zones are designated for emergency personnel and you will get a $90 ticket!
  • Vehicles displaying an accessible placard must also display a valid University parking permit. If parking at a meter with an accessible placard, you must also display a valid University parking permit or feed the meter.
  • Be sure to lock and secure your vehicle. Before leaving your vehicle, make sure that no valuable items are left that can be seen by others.
  • The university is not responsible for any loss or damage to your vehicle.

Shuttle

  • Arrive at the designated shuttle stop 10-15 minutes before the scheduled time.
  • Make sure to line up as shown by the signs posted at the shuttle stop.
  • Have your ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ ID Card (BayCard) out and ready to show as you board shuttle.
  • Boarding allowed only for riders with a valid ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ ID Card (BayCard).
  • The shuttle has a maximum passenger capacity approximately 30-34. If the shuttle has reached its maximum capacity you will have to wait for the next shuttle or for the AC Transit (fee applicable).
  • At certain times of the day (especially in the morning) there can be a higher volume of riders. Arrive for an earlier shuttle, in case that one you want is full. This way you'll  have time to make the next one and still get to campus on time.
