Diplomas

If you meet all graduation requirements, your degree will be posted to your academic record in one to two months after grades are official for your term of graduation. A notification will be sent to your Horizon email the day that your degree is awarded. The Office of the Registrar will mail your diploma to your home/permanent address on file with the university six to eight weeks after your degree is posted to your record. All majors, minors, concentrations and honors earned at the time the degree is awarded will be printed on the diploma. 

 

Verify your Name and Address in MyÂÌñ»»ÆÞ

Diplomas are mailed to the home/permanent address on record with the University. Please verify the correct spelling of your name and accuracy of your home/permanent address in . To ensure your diploma is sent to a new address, changes must be received by the last day of classes of your graduation term.

 

Change of Address

Changes to your home/permanent address may be made directly in . To ensure your diploma is sent to a new address, changes must be received by the last day of classes of your graduation term. Address changes made after the last day of classes of your graduation term may not guarantee delivery of your diploma, and charges for a re-order may apply.

 

Change of Name

For legal name changes to your official academic record, complete the Personal Data Change form on website or use the paper Personal Data Change Form and follow the instructions on the form. Name changes made after the last day of classes of your graduation term may not be reflected on your diploma, and charges for a re-order may apply. Your legal/primary name, which appears on your official academic record and transcript, will be printed on the diploma unless you have selected a degree name.

 

Degree Name

You have the option of selecting a degree name, which allows you to change your first and/or middle name that will appear on your diploma. Last name cannot be changed with degree name. Updating a degree name does not change your name on the transcript or on any other part of your academic record. To update your degree name select the Profile tile in MyÂÌñ»»ÆÞ and then select ‘Pref Name’ and then select ‘degree name’. Your degree name request must be done by the last day of classes for the term in which you are graduating in order to guarantee the degree name will be listed on the diploma. All students that do not select a degree name will have their legal/primary name printed on their diploma. If you want to change your last name, then you will need to change your legal/primary name by submitting a Personal Data Change Form.

 

Financial Hold

Students with a financial hold on their account for an outstanding balance owed to the University will not have their diploma released.  Once the past due balance has been paid students should contact the Office of the Registrar at diploma@csueastbay.edu  to have their diploma mailed. Questions about outstanding balances and financial holds can be directed to Student Financial Services at studentfinance@csueastbay.edu.

 

Majors on Your Diploma

It is possible for a student to complete more than one major (i.e. two B.A. majors; two B.S. majors; one B.A and one B.S.) as long as both majors are declared. The university does not award two diplomas for each degree/major and instead will receive one diploma with both listed. The student’s official transcript will reflect the conferral of both degrees/majors.

 

Diploma Reorder

Students use our online to order a replacement diploma. Once a student places a diploma re-order request it will take 4-6 weeks for the diploma to be placed in the mail to them. Diploma re-orders will be printed with a student’s legal name on file with the university and will be mailed to the address that student indicates on their diploma re-order form. All diplomas are printed with the campus name of ‘ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ, East Bay’ not ‘ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ, Hayward’, regardless of when the original degree was awarded.

 

Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma) 

Students who earned their degree in May 2020 or later have the option of ordering a Certified Electronic Diploma (CeDiploma). For more information about this, visit the CeDiploma website

 

Notarization of Documents

Students who wish to have a diploma or transcript notarized for the purpose of foreign embassies and consulates should email diploma@csueastbay.edu for information regarding this process.
