Cal State East Bay’s Veteran Student Services office, located on the Hayward campus in the Library Annex (LI) building, is dedicated to providing services to veterans interested in pursuing educational goals and applying for benefits. Veteran Students Services provides wraparound student support services to all ÂÌñ»»ÆÞ veteran students. Program services are organized around two key services: (1) one-on-one holistic academic counseling that includes academic advisement, career & goal planning, scholarship guidance, graduate school advising, guidance on balancing academic and personal life and (2) processing educational benefits and benefits coaching/guidance on the effective use of VA benefits and/or other resources to achieve your education and career goals.
The Veterans Benefits Coordinator at Cal State East Bay provides advice to veterans, reservists, and dependents of service disabled or deceased veterans who are completing and filing V.A. claim forms for federal and state education assistance programs. In addition, the Veterans Benefits Coordinator can assist with special registration procedures required for students in a CalVet College Fee Waiver program for dependents and disabled veterans.
All new students should speak with Deborah Dorffi Hansana, Veterans Benefits Coordinator & School Certifying Official (SCO), to review the requirements of the program and ensure the proper documentation is completed, including eligibility paperwork and education/advising plans. Appointments can be made with the SCO for Benefits Counseling at the Hayward Campus. For academic advising and/or personal counseling with the Retention Coordinator, appointments can be made at both the Hayward and Concord campuses. Contact (510) 885-3669 or veterans@csueastbay.edu for more information and to set-up an appointment with the Veteran Student Services office.
